Part of the team at Mr Snips since 2006, John Lynch started his career in London, his grand-father owned a shop just off the Edgware Road, which is where he served his apprenticeship. He then went to The London College of Art and Fashion to take a city and guilds and went on to manage a shop in Eltham, where he got the taste to run his own shop. When his parents moved to Seasalter, they told him about a newly built shop there and deciding he wanted a complete change, he went for it. It was there that he made friends with Gordon. After running his own business for 23 years Gordon proposed that he join him at Mr Snips, rent a chair, work a 3 day week and also cover for each other during holidays so the business would not close.
John started on the 06/06/06 opening the shop at 6.00am and charging his first customer £6.00. Working a 3 day week has enabled him to give more time to help in the community. John is now a qualified referee, manages a junior football team and is the Treasurer for Whitstable Town Junior Football Club. They now both work three days a week, John working Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday, Gordon working Thursday, Friday and Saturday. This has enabled Gordon to work as an advocate for the Canterbury Advocacy Project and to become a Governor at The Community College, Whitstable. He believes it is not enough just to have a business in the Town, you must give something back, Especially to the youth of the town for they are the future.
